Bifacial Dual-Sided Solar Modules
Harnessing Direct Sunlight and Reflected Roof Albedo for Up to 25% Extra Energy
Unlike traditional monofacial solar panels that only absorb light from the front, bifacial modules feature transparent dual-tempered glass capable of generating clean electricity from both the front and rear faces simultaneously.

Why It Matters
Core Engineering Advantages
Zero Extra Footprint Required
Extract up to 25% more kilowatt-hours from the exact same roof dimensions, ideal for space-constrained rooftops.
Immune to Micro-Cracking & Fire
Dual-glass construction creates a rigid sandwich that prevents cell micro-cracks from wind flexing and provides Class-A fire rating.
Zero Moisture & Salt Corrosion
Unlike plastic backsheets that degrade and turn yellow in coastal humid salt air, glass is 100% impermeable to moisture.
Accelerated Payback Period
Higher kilowatt-hour output per panel accelerates your solar investment payback by 6 to 10 months.
The Science of Albedo: How Surface Reflection Boosts Output
The rear-side generation of a bifacial panel is directly proportional to the surface reflectivity (Albedo coefficient) of the material underneath the array, as well as the height and tilt of the mounting structure.
Different rooftop surfaces reflect vastly different amounts of light back up to the rear solar cells:
Pairing elevated bifacial solar structures with a white reflective elastomeric waterproof coating on your terrace simultaneously waterproofs your roof, cools your top floor by 4–6°C, and maximizes bifacial solar generation.
Mounting Structure Design for Bifacial Systems
Bifacial panels must not be mounted flush against the roof like traditional tiles. To allow reflected photons to reach the rear glass, GSR Energies engineers elevated Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG) or anodized aluminum mounting structures.
Key engineering parameters include maintaining a minimum clearance height of 0.8 to 1.5 meters above the terrace surface, optimizing row-to-row pitch to prevent self-shading, and using frameless or rear-clearance rail designs that avoid casting structural shadows across the rear cells.

Got Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Do bifacial panels work on flat concrete terrace roofs?
Yes, concrete terraces are one of the best applications for bifacial panels! Because concrete reflects 25–35% of ambient sunlight, elevating the panels by 1 to 1.2 meters delivers an immediate 10% to 15% increase in total energy generated.
Are bifacial solar panels heavier than single-glass panels?
Modern dual-glass modules use two thin 2.0mm tempered glass sheets, making the total panel weight (around 28–32 kg) only slightly heavier than a 3.2mm single-glass panel with aluminum frame. Our engineering team calculates exact structural load distributions before installation.
Can I claim government subsidy on bifacial solar modules?
Yes! Bifacial modules that carry 100% Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) certification are fully eligible for PM Surya Ghar subsidies up to ₹78,000 for residential rooftops.
